Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is an anionic surfactant widely used in pharmaceutical research as a dissolution enhancer for poorly soluble drugs.

Dissolution testing is an important tool for characterizing the performance of oral solid dosage forms.

SLS If inhaled may cause respiratory irritation. It can cause severe allergic respiratory reaction. Could have severe irritation of the respiratory tract with sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath and delayed lung edema.
